Bonita in the Royal Channel Island Yacht Club

The beautiful painting above is by Philip Ouless, an important Victorian marine artist, active around Guernsey.  The painting depicts the 'Jersey Regatta', with Elizabeth Castle in the background.  The painting's full title is 'Bonita crossing the line, ahead of Luline and L'Hirondelle after a close-run three hour race, on 21st August 1862, off St Helier, one of the first races of the newly formed Royal Channel Island Yacht Club'.
